After Care

JEWELLERY CARE

1. Avoid Contact with Harsh Chemicals: Before using household cleaning agents, swimming in chlorinated water, or applying beauty products like lotions, perfumes, hairspray, and makeup, remember to remove your jewellery. These substances can cause tarnishing in silver and may damage the alloys in gold, leading to discolouration or harm.
2. Avoid Wearing During Rough Impact: Prior to engaging in sports, heavy lifting, or any activity that might subject your jewellery to rough treatment or impact, it's best to take it off. Silver and gold are soft metals and can be easily worn down, warped, or broken when in contact with harder materials like weightlifting bars.

3. Be Cautious in Cold Environments: Since fingers tend to swell in heat and shrink in cold conditions, it's advisable to remove rings before surfing or swimming in cold water to avoid the risk of losing them.

4. Be Cautious with Gemstones: Gems have different hardnesses that affect their durability. Handle them with extra care and avoid exposing them to harsh cleaning chemicals or sudden temperature changes that may affect the gemstone setting.

5. Jump Links: This is a required safety feature for any necklace, chain or bracelet. Jump links will break under force to avoid any injury to the neck or wrist.

CLEANING

Silver:

1. Use a polishing cloth for a light clean and polish.

2. Silver Polish: Use a silver polish solution to remove tarnish and restore shine (usually available from most supermarkets).

3. Baking Soda Method: Make a paste by mixing baking soda with water. Apply the paste to the silver using a soft cloth, gently rub in a circular motion, then rinse and dry.

Gold:

1. Use a polishing cloth for a light clean and polish.

2. Mild Soap Solution: Create a mixture of warm water and a few drops of mild dish soap. Soak your gold jewellery in the solution for a few minutes, then gently scrub with a soft brush. Rinse with clean water and pat dry.

STORAGE
When not wearing your jewellery, store it in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Consider using individual jewellery pouches or a lined jewellery box to prevent scratching and tangling. Note that silver and gold can oxidize when left unworn for extended periods, but they can be cleaned and polished to restore their original appearance.
